This was a Christmas gift for my grandmother.
Quite a while ago, she gave me this old wind spinner that was sitting out in her front yard for at LEAST a decade. It was originally a peacock with spinning tail feathers, but the colors were faded and VERY grungy-looking, the head looked like something chewed it up, and it was pretty unrecognizable at that point. But my grandmother (who knows me very well) wanted me to redo it for her somehow and make it pretty again.
...And that's what I did! The frame for every piece of the peacock was still intact, so basically all I had to do was remove and discard the old fabric and re-cover each piece with new fabric. That might sound hard to do, but I figured it out!
My grandmother said she didn't mind what I did with it, as long as it's some kind of bird again. So right away I thought "Ho-oh!" because Ho-oh has basically the same shape as a peacock, and I knew I could turn the peacock into Ho-oh pretty easily just by changing the colors and patterns.
...So now it's a Ho-oh wind spinner with a spinning tail, and the whole thing is actually pretty big (I'm guessing about 2 feet long?). And my grandmother loved it!
